温迪阶石 is a dancer/choreographer turned writer/editor/scholar. She trained equally in modern dance and ballet before earning a BA from Bennington 大学 and an MA from SUNY Empire State 大学. She danced with the Trisha Brown Company in the 1970s and choreographed more than 40 works for her own group, which received commissions from 林肯中心 Festival, the Joyce Theater, 雅各布的枕头, and the Danspace Project. Perron has taught at Bennington, 普林斯顿大学, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and the Conservatory at SUNY Purchase, and she has often adjudicated for ballet and choreography competitions. In the early 1990s she served as associate director of 雅各布的枕头, where she conceived and co-directed an international intensive in improvisation. She was the editor in chief of 跳舞 Magazine from 2004 to 2013, and has also written for the 纽约时报, the Village Voice, vanityfair.com, and journals in Europe and China. An authority on Judson 跳舞 Theater and postmodern dance, Perron has lectured across the country and in Russia and China. In 2011 she was the first dance artist to be inducted into the New York Foundation for the Arts’ Hall of Fame. 她的第二本书, The Grand Union: Accidental Anarchists of Downtown 跳舞, 1970-1975, met with acclaim when it was published in 2020.
