About

Cody Campbell is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at the CUNY Graduate Center, writing a dissertation tentatively titled “Politics and Literature During the English Civil Wars: A Trans-Atlantic Reading of Hobbes and Milton.” He has a master’s degree in philosophy and art from Stony Brook University, and bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and English from Stony Brook. His research interests are in the history of moral and political philosophy, specifically from the ancient, medieval, and early modern periods; contemporary political philosophy, with a focus on the Frankfurt School, aesthetics, and philosophy and literature; and American intellectual history, cultural production, and literature.

Prior to graduate school, Cody worked in international politics and development, living and working in South Asia for a time, and then at the World Economic Forum doing global business development. He was born and raised in Northern California – the Sierra Nevada Mountains of the Great West – but lives now in Brooklyn with his wife, daughter, and two dogs, Woody and Scooby.
