约瑟夫阿莱西

Trombonist 约瑟夫阿莱西 is an active soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. 阿莱西 was appointed principal trombonist of the New York Philharmonic in 1985. In 1990, he made his New York Philharmonic solo debut and in 1992 premiered Christopher Rouse’s 长号 Concerto with the Philharmonic. Other premieres he has played include Melinda Wagner’s 长号 Concerto in 2007 and William Bolcom’s 长号 Concerto in 2016.

阿莱西 began musical studies in his native California with his father, 约瑟夫阿莱西 Sr., as a high school student. He was a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony before continuing his musical training at the Curtis Institute of 音乐. Before joining the Philharmonic, 阿莱西 was second trombone with the Philadelphia Orchestra for four seasons and played principal trombone with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra for one season. He has performed as guest principal trombonist with the London Symphony Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, led by Pierre Boulez.

阿莱西 has been a guest soloist with the Lincoln, 科罗拉多州, 锡拉丘兹, 维吉尼亚州, 阿拉巴马州, 圣芭芭拉分校, 波多黎各, 哈特福德, and South Dakota symphony orchestras; New Japan, 首尔, 黑格, and Helsinki philharmonic orchestras; National Repertory Orchestra; Orchestra of Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Sicily; Mannheim National Theater Orchestra; and National Symphony of Taiwan.

He has participated in numerous festivals, including the Festivale 音乐a di Camera in Protogruaro, Italy; Cabrillo 音乐 Festival; Swiss 黄铜 Week; and Lieksa 黄铜 Week in Finland. He was featured in the 1997 International 长号 Festival in Feldkirch, 奥地利, and the International Meeting of 黄铜 仪器 in Lille, 法国. He is a founding member of the Summit 黄铜 ensemble at the Rafael Mendez 黄铜 Institute in Tempe, 亚利桑那州. In 2002, 阿莱西 was awarded an International 长号 Association Award for his contributions to the world of trombone music and trombone playing.

阿莱西, a faculty member since 1986 and 预科 faculty since 2007, he has also given master classes throughout the world and has toured Europe extensively as a master teacher and recitalist.
